Taurus 454 Casull

Post by f100cleveland »

I have been looking at the Raging Bull 454 Casuall. Just wondering if anyone has one or could give me a few suggestions. I have been looking at the 6.5inch and 8.3inch barrels leaning toward the 6.5 for ease of holstering and carrying. I shoot 45 colt so that would make for cheaper plinking loads in it.

That 45 looks fun. They make a 454 Raging Bull with 2.5inch barrel. Bet they throw flames at night

Greetings
Have a Titanium CC in 44 Special. These are very light and comfortable CC revolvers. 240 grainers at 950 fps is a handfull to handle.
I cannot imagine shooting a full power 454 in a 2.5 inch revolver. I have a 454 BFR and that critter wants to go flying with a 275 grain bullet and a case full of 296. Also have a 41 mag SS 2.5 inch Taurus. That little beast with a 265 grain and case full of 296 will never get shot that way again by me. One round was enough. My hand tingled for some time even with a leather shooting glove.

Mike,
I've got a buddy who says the same thing about shooting a few rounds of Winchester 270 grain .44 Magnum.
My first .44 Mag loads were a bit stiff and I didn't notice as I was shooting them out of a Winchester 94.
When I ended up with the revolvers and started shooting the same ammo out of them I decided I might need to revisit the load data and drop it a grain or two.

I just got this today. Hope it warms up a little so I can try it out. I loaded up 20 rounds to test it out. 5 each of different powders and bullets with near min. charges. I need to do more research on loads and powders before testing heavyer loads. I have some 296 and imr4227 that should work. Need to find some magnum pistol powder but hard to do around here.

The only downside to the Taurus large revolvers is they pretty much take two hands to open the cylinder.
