Taurus MilPro 132
Any thoughts regarding the Taurus Millenium Series in 32 acp?
I like the Taurus PT140, and I like the idea of the same format weapon in 32 acp.
However, the size of the Taurus 132 slide seems like overkill for the 32 acp projectile.
I have the Bersa in 32 ACP. However, the operation of the Bersa safety is opposite that of the Taurus safety:
For the Taurus, sweep the safety down to fire.
For the Bersa, sweep the safety up to fire.
If the dreaded moment of truth should ever arise, I'd hate to sweep the safety in the wrong direction.
Hence the appeal of the Taurus for consistency of training.
What say ye?

Re: Taurus MilPro 132
I love it! I own a late model PT132Pro. I actually have the PT111, PT132, PT138, PT745… all of them the Pro.
It is a very pleasant handgun to shoot; accurate, quite, and no recoil.
The downside is a lack of magazines. I really keep up with this, those that you see available are for the PT132 not the PT132Pro. There is a difference.
The Millennium barrel specs are "fat" not a big issue with jacketed bullets but a consideration with cast. I shoot a .314" bullet. That said, the best shooting factory ammo my wife and I have shot is the MagTec 71-grain lead round nose (LRN) ammo and it is a .312" bullet. The imaging below is for the 732 TCP, have two of those, but the barrel stock and chamber cut is the same.
The PT745 is my "serious" carry pistol. I love it and got rid of my Glock 36 after shooting it. I like it so much that I bought another and pickled it when Taurus dropped the model at the end of 2013. It will sit in my safe until I need it but the reality is that it will probably be sitting there 25 years from now.

Re: Taurus MilPro 132
A good find would be a PT132 in good condition. This is the Millennium not the Millennium Pro. These were a slight smaller frame. All the magazines offered on the internet are for this original version.

RD, how many rounds can you fit in the magazine of your PT132?
I'm only getting 8 in mine.

12… oops, my error, 10 rounds (12 is the 9mm Luger). I use a UpLula loader to load it.Mrlucky353 wrote:RD, how many rounds can you fit in the magazine of your PT132?

Doh!
I was very impressed with twelve.
With an Uplula, I'm up to 10 in one magazine and 9 in the other.
Ever worry that the force of the magazine spring pushing up on that last tight round might mess up the contour of the magazine lips?

Re: Taurus MilPro 132
I've seen magazines fail due to the force of that round.
One of the supposed selling points of Magpul AR mags is being able to load them and take the force off the feed lips with the cap.
I've also seen magazine tube bodies bent when someone used one of the pushdown loaders and either pushed or slammed the base of the mag against something trying to force the last round in.
Another consideration is that when using a long magazine in a shorter gun you may be able to force the magazine past the mag catch either slipping the feed lips into the path of the bolt/slide or slamming the feed lips Into the bottom of the bolt/slide. For example using a full sized 1911 magazine in a Commander sized gun or using a full sized XD mag in a compact XD without one of the stop collars on the mag. It can be a good way to carry a reload with more rounds for your small gun but in the heat of the moment if the mag is deformed to the point of jamming it can be worse than just having the standard cap reload on tap.
