The problem I see with the 6.5 Rem Mag is components. The family mentioned are reloading fools and took care of business many, many moons ago.

I was just looking at that cartridge and that rifle combo not too long ago.

I think I'll stick to 6.5x55 for the 6.5s. I'm sort of wanting a nice scoped hunting rifle in that caliber to go with my M48 although 6.5-06 sounds slightly interesting.
Definitely take a look at the 6.5-06. I've had one since '70 and doubt I'll ever let it go although I don't have a lot to shoot it at in SW Ohio. With 85 gr Sierra HPs it's a great ground hog rifle for as far as you can see to hit 'em with the 9 power setting on the scope. Easy to load for and under "normal" conditions components aren't a problem. I've got a bunch of assorted Swedes in 6.5x55 and often think of getting something modern like a #1 in that caliber. The 6.5 bore is just about ideal ballistically as far as I'm concerned.

I've been considering the possibility of getting a CZ-550 in 6.5x55.
I don't really have a need for it though.

What powder do you like to load the 35 with. I have some h335 and BL-C2. Looks like the hodgdon lever evolution is the best choice... +guns +guns +guns

I favor H335.

Congratulations RD !
That is a fine looking model 600. I trust it helps you keep them rooters under control.

Yeap, it has been doing just fine. I didn't deer hunt with it last season but will this year.

Very nice. I just recently came across all the different ones for sale out of a collection. The 35 and 223 were already taken so I got the 308. They still have a 6mm and 6.5 mag and .243. I was curious about the 6.5 magnum but didn't know much about how it performs. It has the laminate stock.
I was getting a scout scope set up for it. I found an original redfield IER base for it.

Very nice find! I replaced all the plastic for the aluminum parts from Heritage Arms. I would have prefered the rifle have a scout scope mounted on it so contacted Heritage Arms. They said they would make me a custom mount as part of the replacement rib for $150 over the rib. I wish I would have checked with them first but already out the cost of the rib, I didn't want to start over.

Is the Redfield IER base for the rifles without the rib?
