I have medium rings on the gun, MIGHT have gotten away with low ones with the full rail base but maybe not so I'll stick with what's on it.

I got the gun at a raffle with a free ticket about a year ago. Got $360 in the scope and mounts delivered (all three on sale), $45 in a spare mag (just in case). Maybe $100 in 100 rounds including 40 factory rounds of condor safe lead free ammo loaded with Barnes bullets (approved for hunting in Kali). Another $40 in reloading dies and trimmer parts. (AND Gifted with another 20-30 OFB cases from another bud that I intend to load with plinking / practice rounds.)

Can't complain.
Gotta get out and sight the sucker in now.

Savage has got it going on. I wish they would revive the 99 even knowing it would cost us a fortune.

I think I'll agree with that.
The only 99s I've examined have been pretty close to ragged out with use and abuse, in some rather oddball calibers not generally available to the average shooter and that I am unwilling to bank on being able to get components to load plus have been priced at collectors rates in spite of being in shooter condition at best.

For me personally I would like to see a high quality gun, may be even through their custom gun shop, the likes of those offered through Pedersoli as an example. I say this because I know the manufacture would be expensive, that is why it was dropped, and I would hate to see them cut manufacturing corners to make it work as that would doom it immediately. The last years of production of these rifles are representative of what I'm taking about. Simply put, they were of "broomstick" quality at best.
