Matchlock Home Built

Post by Missionary »

Matchlock finished close.jpg
Greetings Photos are of the matchlock I have been building from scrap steel over the last couple months. Always wanted one so now I do. Completely functional but not "safe" for round ball as barrel is a 48 inch piece of gas pipe. Have "set it off" several times with 20 grains 3F with a newspaper wad only.
As this is an unregistered piece it can never leave the property and is for display only. It was alot of fun to build. Only had to purchase the wood, barrel and steel ramrod. Have a total of $19 invested and enough left over wood and ramrod steel to build several more. My desire was to end up with a strickly basic early 1600 model that would have equiped some of the first American Colonial soilders of thier day.
I trust your Memorial day was Blessed with found memories and a dedicated heart to a Constitutional America.

Very nice work! I saw the pics before reading that you didn't fire a real round. Needless to say I was relieved to read that! Haha.
