92 rear sight

Post by Woody »

Anyone have suggestions for a replacement rear sight? I don't like the buckhorn sight. Was thinking of having it milled flat across the top. I tried a Winchester 94 sight I have but it is too sloppy in the dovetail. Thanks.

Check out Midway, they have lots of sights. I put all Marbles, front, and rear sights on my 92s. Marbles has different length, and width, for the front, and rear, along with different hights. Look under gun parts.

I ground it down with my Drexel tool. Looks nice. Put an angle on the back side. I used a flat disc stone and it came nice and flat/even.

To piggyback on this thread can anyone explain why Midway reads the Marbles flat top rear site as a .360 dovetail? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/59300 ... steel-blue

Compare http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/si ... 21630.aspx

They both have the same Marbles #006600 but Brownells has them listed as .375 dovetails. Im looking to change my 92 to a bullseye site and my Ranch Hand to this flat top but im newer than new to it and dont want to order the wrong one with too small a dovetail and have it slipping out

Marble's site:

Rear sights:

I have in the past contacted them regarding questions.
I've also corrected Midway on their 'technical information' when they've had typos. Sometimes they even incorporate the corrections. They still haven't corrected the descriptions of the Lee Collet Crimp Dies for .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum. They still have them listed as .357/.38 and .44 Mag/.44 SP.

That clears things up. Naive of me to rule out a simple typo so it would seem they both have the correct sights. Any preference from Midway to Brownells? To order both with shipping is only a couple dollars difference but ive not dealt with either

I've dealt with both, both reputable . Midway has more sales and if it's on sale I'll go there, but Brownels is the first place I look.

Anyone know the elevation adjust range in the factory 92 rear sight? Reading the Marbles link the flat top and semi buck rear sights have the same range, just depends on if you have *H model or not. If factory sights can go down to 300 theres no point in changing
