Cut down another .25Auto case and hopefully it's short enough
this time. First attempt interfered with the firing pin if you recall.
Yeah, that was a shock to hear the hammer fall and no BANG.
Thanks to RD for the tip to "fire" a empty cartridge with only the
primer BEFORE I make the trip to the Range.
I may have missed this in another post but do you just not like the steves gunz replacement? They remind me of those button caps you put over screw heads.

About a year ago when you were exploring this idea, a fellow poster shared a video of a guy on you tube doing this. Just food for thought but he wanted the look of the primer to look live so he took his universal deprimer, popped it out, removed the anvil then replaced it back into the cartridge, in the video he did not show how he safely removed the anvil. As suggested in the thread, if you fill the case cut down as you have it with oil, WD-40 will work, let sit say for 24-48 hours, you will be completely safe to deprime and pick the primer clean.

Just picked up the trimmed casing off the bench that's been
soaking in oil for several days. I had the notion that removing
the anvil after soaking wasn't necessary ? Right / Wrong ?
I didn't on the first trial but we all know that one didn't work
out and the rifle wasn't fired with it in place.
Jim that's a good thought, I guess my thinking was better safe then sorry but your right, if the powder in the primer is no longer viable then why bother remove the anvil.... Well we live in an age of lawyers and any advice that could go wrong no longer accounts for any personal responsibility, that said, what does your gut say to do?

there's another old thread somewhere describing taking a spent primer, using a punch and taking the dimple out of the primer ... then re-seat the spent primer, polish, install finished product.

in the console of the wife's SUV.
