Refinishing Project, Part 2

Post by Jaybm »

The fore stock came off easier than I expected once I got the band screws
backed out. The fore stock appears to have a better personality so we'll
see how that turns out.

Didn't the beauty parlor have their own tung oil for your helper?

That was another project that took a lot of persistence to finalize ethang.
working flawlessly BTW.

Nope Archer just a shampoo and rinse, no tung oil.

Got it back together this afternoon. Went smoothly till I tried tightening the d*** band screw :x !
If it had just one more thread it might have caught.

I suppose it's metric ... anyone know the thread size ? I don't have a metric gage. I'll check with
the local Tru Value in the morning, they seem to have almost everything.

Other than that I'm well pleased the way it turned out ...

Now,

Thought I might hit the range tomorrow too, calling for some rain the rest of the week and
we sorely need that.

Follow up.
Went on line with Rossi just now. Two forearm tip screws # 16 are ordered, $1.00 apiece , shipping
$8.75. Very pleasant experience !
Thought I might remove the forearm once more and turn the band around but heck leave it alone for now.
I'll still try to verify the thread size.

Are you sure you put the band back in the same way it came out? I started mine 180 degrees but remembered the mark was on the right side and turned it around and did not have an issue.
