You are right there. I sprayed silicone on the polished concrete in shop class in high school a friend of mine fell n broke his arm. The stuff is slick as ice.

I knew you were talking about silicone but I read it twice before I saw the title.

There are several delivery methods. I've seen recommendations for it to be sprayed into a small bottle and then applied via q-tip or the like.

I generally don't use it, especially in spray form since once it is on something or in the finish or pores of wood it limits your choices of what can be done in terms of refinishing for example.

I guess that silicone stuff has some practical uses, but in some applications it just don't look natural

I've always been told silicone is a terrible gun oil. It may be slick but it doesn't stand up to the pressure and is insted displaced. I assume it's the same reason you use different weights of oil in different auto engines. I also don't find it to be that great at preventing rust. There are much better things.

bob, I don't use it that much like an oil for lubing the inner workings of a gun. But after seeing how easy it makes sizing bullets, I just do not see how it would not work good on moving parts.

Maybe you tried a different brand than the CRC for rust protection. Like I said before, it is the only one that I use and trust, because it has proven itself to me as a great rust proofer for the last 20+ years.
