Thanks for the report! At least you figured out what works and what doesn't. Now, looking forward to the hunting pictures!

You were lucky to be able to take the ammo back.
AFAIK here in the states that just doesn't happen.
Liability, state and probably federal laws against it.

Interesting that that is the case there. In Australia you are not allowed to onsell ammunition at all, hence the dealer is your only port of call. Some of course are easier to deal with than others. In this case I got lucky!

We can MOSTLY sell person to person without any issues.
I purchased a couple four cans of .308 and .30-06 Match ammo from a former competitive shooter during the worst of the Obama ammo drought.

Yep the ammo drought as you call it has really affected us here too. When I see the prices you guys can get ammo ( not to mention firearms) for I just drool. Due to the drought and to the Aussie dollar not being as strong as it was a couple of years ago our prices are the highest I have seen them in years.

adventurepaul wrote:Hi,
Went looking today for answers but couldn't find so I'll post my first post here and see what I get. Thanks in advance.

Had my Rio for a year now and put approx 200+ rounds thru it. Recently I'm having trouble where upon firing the first time no bang but re-cocking the hammer will fire the round.
As yo can see from the pic, Left one is OK right one miss fires.

Any Ideas?? Rounds? headspace? Firing pin is Ok and protrudes enough to fire and chamber and bolt is perfectly clean.

Although I've got 100+ rounds of these Remington 150gr. I'm hoping its just the round. I did compare the two cases an the fired one is about 0.015"shorter than the miss fired one.

Having similar issue with my 30-30. For me it fires fine (so far) with factory winchester rounds but with my home made rounds (forget primer mfc) just about every round I fire the first pull goes click and the second pull goes bang.

I heard this could be due to a weak main spring. Anyone swap it? Did it help? Which did you swap with, marlin 336? Anyone have a part number?

Thanks

[Update] read the rest of the post. Will try adjusting the main spring adjuster plate.
