Hello from Virginia

Post by Alan_VA »

After a bit of lurking, I thought I should say "Hi". Politeness, that's all. Long history of firearms ownership, hunting, and killing pieces of paper. I bought a blued Rossi 92 in .44Mag some months back, and took it out for its debut of destroying cheap canned sodas with my children and grandchildren this morning. The kids got their first official firearms safety and marksmanship lesson from one of their uncles, with me acting as range safety officer, using the family's official training rifle, a Remington Targetmaster. Afterwards, I pulled out the Rossi to initiate it. Must have not pulled the stock in tight enough because the steel-clad toe of the stock bit me pretty good. And, as the stock is on the short side, I'll be looking for a good butt pad solution. I see a search of the forum in my future......

I like the whyte leather works wrap around leather pieces.
they level off the crescent plate on the rifles and it feels like it mitigates the recoil about 75%.

A case of crappy soda for $4 is a go to for me.

Welcome.
I'm assuming you have the 20" RB carbine.
The octagonal rifles with the crescent buttplate still need to be pulled tight but they need to ride the arm/shoulder crease a bit more and not the chest/shoulder.

As long as you snuggle up to the carbine you should be ok with them.
I do sort of wish the buttplate was checkered on those however for a bit less slip on some clothing.

Another welcome to you, Alan - from Adam who is also in Virginia!

Enjoyed reading your .44 carbine buttplate mod thread.

Have fun with this site - there's a bunch of nice folks here - and on Ranch Dog's other forum, Lee Loader, as well!
