The Truth About Assault Weapons

Post by Ranch Dog »

This is a good power point type presentation that will help you understand some of the facts as to why any new attempt at a Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) will not work. Not preaching to the choir but the information is good to review for any conversations you might have with the uniformed.

The AWB is not the most insidious part of the contemplated process.
The poison pill is the federal registry of specifically proclaimed firearms that if successful will be incrementally expanded to include all firearms.
The federal registry of AWs is the thin edge of the wedge of universal firearm registration.
Universal registration is a necessary prerequisite to total disarmament.
Once the government knows where the guns are and the political climate is right they'll come and get them.
If Feinstein's AWB bill passes as is AW owners will be required to register their AWs and other firearms proclaimed in the bill only to have them pried from their cold dead hands when they die.....a macabre juxtaposition of Chuck Heston's famous words.
I don't predict the sidewalks in front of BATFE GHQ being blocked by long queues of AW owners waiting to register their AWs at any time in the conceivable future.
Compliance will likely be very low.
The ATF AW Registrar and the Maytag Repairman should share the same office in order to keep each other company........it won't be very busy in there.

Without the AWB, the socialists (I consider them communists because of the amount of control they want to wheal) and other anti-American forces within our government have nothing, so that it what must grind to a halt.

I think AW and other affected gun owners will just ignore the ban and the requirement to register even if the bill does pass.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and the best prevention is for us to put tremendous and unceasing pressure on our politicians to vote to defeat the bill.

Thanks for the link RD. Very useful.

G'day all . Some things that keep happening over here in oz , are almost every year the gun ( all weapon ) laws get tighter . Every thing is a deadly weapon over here . Evey time there is a mass public shooting in the usa or else where around the world . It's australia that tightens the laws on our legal & registed mainly rifle ownners . Most gun crime done over here is middle easten drug crime & bikie organized crime . Almost all is 9mm pistol , that is heaverly controlled . The hand guns are smuggled in . ( guess who controls the wharfs the bikies ) & you's are right the anti gunners won't be happy with just awb laws . If u take the guns of the good guys only the bad guys will have them . I think there are major problems with any sociaty that feeds all kinds of drugs , gm foods , & high sugar , salt & fat foods . We are what we eat . Giving drugs 2 school kids so they sit still what hope do they have . My 2 cents worth . Fight on guy's .

I'm sure it's a great video, but I don't know if the best video in the world would have an effect on people. People think what they want to think, no matter what. Hit them with facts proving otherwise, they stamp one foot and turn their head. Look at how the election went, in spite of the evidence people lived with every day.

Sorry, but I'm a bit down on the judgement of people after attending a school safety meeting two nights ago. Very disappointing.

I don't know how many kids are in the school system, but the HS has just under 1,600 students. The system includes that HS, four elementary schools, and a middle school.
The meeting was for the entire school system. I'd guess a minimum of 3,000 parents have kids attending this system. There might have been 30 parents there.
Pathetic.
I went there hoping to see the place packed, with most of them wanting at least a police presence, and maybe armed faculty. IN state law says teachers can carry guns at school IF the superintendent approves it and they have carry permits.
It was clear right away this guy won't, because he has CHH Syndrome (Can't Happen Here). Even when a local LEO/parent (taking the words right out of my mouth) said nothing short of posting an officer in each school office would make him feel better, the supt didn't see the necessity.

They'd rather expose the kids to danger than let one scary gun in, whether it was on a policeman's belt or not.
Don't confuse them with the facts.

Oh yeah-
I like this tactic I heard: Turn it around. Apply the same things to another amendment.
For example, the 1st. Right to free speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, etc. Now talk about "common sense press laws". Closing the internet loophole.

When they wonder why we get so defensive, ask them if they heard the term "Speech Control" instead of "Gun Control", what would their reaction be? They would probably get a little defensive.
