A day late with this, but on November 26, 1926 ...

John Moses Browning, who designed your favorite model 1892 and quintessential 1911, went to work at his usual work station at Fabrique Nationale. Browning died that day on the factory floor of a sudden heart attack while continuing to develop his design of the Superposed over/under shotgun.

Browning was a man possessed of a very clever mind and the ability to whittle good wooden prototypes.
