Re: Bow building
GasGuzzler, I think shipping a tree or even a stave from TX might be out of my expense range. However, I have met a few bowyers from TX, I'm not sure of what part of TX. If its a good straight tree and they're close enough, they might remove it for you.
Ohio3wheeler, Dayton, is at most 3 hours from me. And, I do have relatives there that I haven't visited in about 5 hours.
Both of you, If you could post pictures of the trees, especially how the bark grain goes up the tree, I could get a pretty good idea if they are bow canidates.

Life isn't about the toys you accumulate, but about the memories your create with those toys and friends.

Re: Bow building
It's on the other side of my fence but the fence is inside my survey....and the other house is a rental SO ... I maintain the tree (pay to have it cut back).
I have no fear my friends.
It's a PEE OH ESS tree IMO. Shades my big Crepe Mytle to death as well as my rose bushes and herb garden. It's branches break off and fall in my yard. It's pushing my (their) fence down.
