Happy Independence Day
And yes I'm gonna say it.........I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could.
I do love me some Texas.......

Re: Happy Independance Day...
I usually try to take of work, or at least shut down early on March 2 for Independence Day and go to the range (used to be fishing a lot). We had a project about 75 miles away with a narrow time slot to complete, so my day was wrecked. Still time to go light up the range before the 8:30 cut-off, but I'm just too danged tired. I'll just have an extra beer to celebrate this year. For several years in my business beginnings, March 2 was one of the few "paid holidays" I gave my full time help.
Now that my typing fingers are awake, let me pose a question to my fellow Texan historians. How many remember the controversy over the officially accepted date of March 2? I seem to remember something about the possibility the date having been retroactively was bumped back a day to coincide with Sam Houston's birthday.
RD, you're older than me so you were probably around during the signing ... do you remember if that was the true date?

Re: Happy Independance Day...
Honestly and without looking it up, I want to say it was February 22nd. Okay, now someone please look it up, I'm too tired enough from nuking Ukrainians that have bullseye's drawn on them from my new registration system.
