Registration Has Been Shut Down

Post by Ranch Dog »

Been getting hammered today by spammers from the Ukraine so I've shut down registration to eliminate my workload of dealing with these idiots. I will leave it shut down until I determine that they have slacked up. I'm sorry if you are trying to submit a legitimate registration, please bear with me.

Great idea. While they're are good new guys you have to take care of your business before you take care of others'.

They seem busy. I noticed NOE and the CBA had a couple in the last few days.

Hate to shut it down but will see if it helps after a day or so. I will also go back to Admin approval for all registrations so I can check them against Stop Forum Spam.

Thank you. The successful response to the "call" is a direct reflection of type of people that participate here. All a class act and I appreciate all of you.

I have the registrations back open, it requires a double activation. The first through an email link activation and then admin activation if the previous is successful. That accomplishes a couple of things that I won't detail but it allows me to collect toxic IPs and block them. It slows down legitimate registrations because they must wait on my computer time to occur but it sure has eliminated the idiots on the front side of things.
