man I love this new SS pin tumbler. It gets the brass so danged clean it looks like new brass. I am even getting out brass that I have had stored which was already polished. And running it through the pin tumbler to get the insides and primer pockets clean.

I got another 5 lbs of pins and added to the drum. It does seem to get them clean a little faster. The best thing is that you can do a lot of brass at one time and it still does not take to long. All that 45 brass in the picture was done together and took about 2 and a half hours. It really looked good enough at 2 hrs, but I ran it the other hour until there was not one speck of black on the insides or in the primer holes.

run with the pins.

I got them off Amazon. They were Guntap brand. Wish I had thought to get a magnet while I was at it.

I don't think you can even LOOK at the tumbler without dropping at least 10 of the pins!

Thanks Don, just ordered two lbs.

Those magnets looked interesting but I'm so small scale
I couldn't justify one.

Jim,

When I opened the new pins, they had a dull odd look about them. I poured them into the tumbler with some soap, and set it for the full 3 hours. After that I drained the water off to find bright shiny pins. And the water had a metallic look. The new pins must have had some sort of manufacturing crud on them.

Delivered today and have that same dull cast.
I'll tumble them tomorrow.

Thanks again for the heads up.

your welcome,

I don't know that it would matter if you tumble them first or not. But it did seem to knock down the corners of the pins a little so that they did not cut the brass so aggressively. They will dull down eventually but I did not want to do that to the first few batches of brass that went through the process.
