Night Vision Alternatives

Can't afford night vision, looking to upgrade beyond my "Kill Light" green light for hogs that mounts either on top of your scope or under your barrel. This will mainly be used for my 70 year old father to take care of hogs tearing up his ranch. I'm building him a 300 BO AR15, he wants optics at this point but doesn't like the KillLight.

I've been thinking about these but waiting to try one first. Price is tolerable.

The range isn't much on that AK, 38-yards.

Wow, really, effective range of the 300 Blackout is only 38 yards by your formula?

AKs generally shoot 7.62X39 or 7n6 (5.45X39).

I think RD was referring to the member "AK47user" telling him the effective range of the thermal sight he linked is 39 yards.

If you need a sight, with a good no light range, it will cost.

ATN Corp has some new Digital NV and Digital Termals.

The NV is Day and Night, and starts with a US$ 599 list price.

I Can't really find anything about the night range, on the NV scope, but some say, that if you use a good IR illuminator (IR Spotlight or IR Laser), then useable range is 100+ yards.

The Thermals are a totally different price range, starting at US$ 1999,
https://www.atncorp.com/thermal-scope-t ... 4-1-25x-5x

They say identification range, 170 meters.(16 pixels pr. Meter).

It seems to me that the way to go is with digital imaging vs. thermal. This has become a very popular hog hunting scope: Sightmark Photon XT 4.6 x 42S Digital Night Vision Riflescope

The only reason I haven't bought a scope like this is that I don't want a single rifle dedicated to the purpose. I like shooting a hog with one rifle and then moving on to the next and it would not be practical to move it each time.

Good morning
Check that "E" place off and on... sometimes descent deals pop up and get overlooked by buyers.
