Caldwell Stable Table Shooting Bench

After 13 years, it was time to replace my wooden shooting benches. In that, I have a private range I had considered a concrete bench but the cost, prefab or custom, was going to run me about $1600 with an integral seat. Been searching around quite a bit and the Caldwell Stable Table kept coming up with good reviews, so I found one for $199 shipped through Wal-Mart and bought it.

Plenty of room for my bags and Labradar, so I think it will work. Shot the M94TS off of it has it and it was rock steady and comfortable. It is not a portable table, it would take a bit to fold up each time and would be a bunch of odd length pieces and shapes which would make it tough to carry. At 65 lbs, it would be tough to tote very far.

Looks like a fine choice! And money left over for a guest couch. I just wish I had a back yard that would accommodate a private range.

Thank you for posting this. That would make a fine bench for a small "home" range.

Nice set up ! I don't have a private range, but we gotz lots of BLM and National Forest in NM. I found a need for a portable shooting bench or table. The commercial ones I looked at didn't seem rock solid, nor were they light to transport around.

I decided to try and fab my own. I had some remodeling done and had some left over plywood sheathing to work with. I had read an article in an old issue of Guns & Ammo magazine by Reid Caufield some time ago about using "Rugged Buddy" folding sawhorse legs, so I was bent on replicating the table. The original design included saw cutting a grab handle on one side, but I didn't get to it. Since then I've fabbed three other similar tables for friends.

The tables are solid enough for 600 yard shots, so far.

The overall dimensions are 42" x 20".

I've also fabricated steel gas pipe stands for target swingers.
