Shooting Clays with a Rossi R92

Post by retAFShooter »

I've been experimenting, and having some fun, with clay pigeons on the target board by http://PigeonHoldTargets.com. I tried it with the R92 .45 Colt the other day.

We shoot pigeons all the time in the N-SSA, with civil war muskets, and carbines. We shoot off hand @ 50 yrds with open sights only. We also shoot them hanging from a wire @ 50 yrd.

Looks like fun! The .45 doesn't look like it kicks nearly as hard as my .44mag does, I can't wait until I have mine!

But that "bird board" is intriguing! Thanks for the link! Got it bookmarked, gonna hafta git me some o' those!

Good shooting Dave 67. I enjoy shooting clays with a 45 colt. Most of what I shoot at are pieces where they landed after trap shooting.

I'd guess the recoil on a .45 Colt with most factory ammo is about half the recoil as a .44 Mag.
BUT in the carbines neither is at all bad IMO.
.45 Colt is like the big cork ball firing cap guns I had as a kid and .44 Magnum is about halfway between a .22 LR and a .30-30 in a Winchester 94, a fun thumper.

Yes, that's why I love shooting the 45 Colts, I now have 3 rifles in 45LC.
