resurrecting a slightly older thread for a question about red dots. i understand most are 1x and have unlimited eye relief, meaning they will work well on our rifles in a scout setup and several on the forum have them. i like a little magnification and wonder what the effect of a red dot magnifier is on eye relief. if you add a 2x or 3x magnifier behind (or screwed into) the red dot, does it also provide unlimited eye relief, or will it be a problem mounted in a scout position on our rifles? inquiring minds, with fading eyes, want to know.

If you like magnification all the time, there's a plethora of prismatic/tactical/Trijicon/AR red dots with magnification built-in. They all claim unlimited eye relief. Trouble is, most are pretty high, being for the AR crowd. I can still maintain a good cheek weld with my Bushnell TSR-25.
