Otis Ear Shield

Post by Jaybm »

Just spotted these in the latest issue of Shooting Times ...

Impressive write-up but mixed reviews. Ordered the 31db model
which is better than my electronic muffs.

I'll do a field test when they're in hand.

Inner ear type always seem to bother me after about an hour. Curious if those work out for you.

Just ordered a couple of pair from Buds Gun Shop. Was gonna get a set of the custom molded variety but I think will hold off till I see how these work out. +corn

Been using disposable foamies for decades.
They tend to rate near the top of the noise attenuation are cheap and can be worn for several hours at a time. Usually stack them with muffs at the range.

Heck I even wear the foamies at the movies.

Well they shipped already so we should find out soon enough.

ha ha, darn hearing aids irritate my left ear.

The RO out at the range wears the foamies backed up with muffs.
Suppose I would to if around all that noise eight hours a day.

They look like the same type as Hickok45 wears in his videos. I love the soft foam disposable plugs but they are a pain to get in just right. I always have to do the arm over the head and pull back the ear and I still manage to mess it up sometimes. I've always wondered if someone put a rubber stick in the foam so you could just force fit it into your ear if they would work well enough. These look sort of like that but with the hanger.

I'm anxious to see how these work out. I've looked at them a time or two.

They've been delivered and if it ever quits raining I'll make it out
to the ramge ( if it hasn't washed away ). Neighbor's rain gage
said 4 1/2 inches Monday.

I will say they are comfortable and seem to block out the wife's
nag****, um, sweet voice. ;) :)
