I'd say pretty close to 748. Never used BL-C(2) so cant compare there. I'll have to dig into the owder storage i may have a partial can of 748 back there someplace.

I may have found a possible answer to the sticking of the PPU 45-70 rounds. I've been looking into case annealing and came across TexsasMac's article. In it he notes that one symptom of over annealing is sticking cases. Of all the commercial 45-70 I've bought and shot the PPU is the only stuff that shows sign of being factory annealed. So maybe?

Hmm... I anneal everything and don't have issue with stuck cases. Resize it, load it up, and try it again to see what happens.
I seem to recall that Starline notes that their .45-70 brass is hard for modern high pressure loads.
They suggest that if you are loading cowboy or BP loads that you probably need to anneal the brass in order for it to form a seal at those low operating pressures.
My experience with Winchester .45-70 is that it is very thin stuff and deforms easily.
I wouldn't expect problems extracting a straight walled case unless the chamber was a bit rough...
Well, better late than never. I loaded the PPU cases and some starline cases with identical loads of Varget and 2 different cast bullets my own from the lee 457405 and 405 gr commercial from a local supplier. Bullet didn't mater, all the PPU cases stuck all the starline tried to fly over the back of the range head. If I run out of other projects I may try the PPU with some black and see what happens, still wont trust them for hunting.
