Couple Hours This Morning

Post by Jaybm »

Well the weather really co-operated and I was one of the first to arrive so
I got my favorite # 4 station.

This was the day I would try shooting left handed, aligning my dominate
eye on the red dot / target, shooting off hand and moving the target to
100 yards.

But first I had to stick with the right hand shooting using the rest

First shot was one of those overlapping at seven o'clock in the eight ring. Then I nailed
the nine ring and diamond with the remaining nine rounds.Left handed I managed to
get one round touching the nine ring. Very disappointed as the target was much clearer.
Three in the eight ring but widely spaced.

Off hand ... LOL ,,, might have well have thrown rocks, think three rounds did hit the
cardbord ... maybe.

Pinned a 17" target to the chicken wire at 100 yards, shot right handed using the rest.

Bullet drop was unbelievable, first couple of tries went under the cardboard. After adjusting the
point of aim near the top of the target I dropped some in the nine and ten ring. Decided to quit
there. I can patch this target with pasties and try again another day,

Any time at the range is a good time ... Jim

Yeap, anytime you get trigger time it is a good deal. Just curious if you have chronographed this load?

Don't own a chronograph RD

Hodgdon's lists this load as the max and out of an 18" barrel 1220 f/sec with a 158gr LSWC.

The Extreme Plated RFN is .357 dia as the LSWC is .358 which might make a difference.
And the Rossi has a 16" barrel.

I can attest that this load will make the rest bounce and have to bring the Red Dot back
on target, chuckle ... Jim
