Big Time Texas Hunts Lottery

Post by Ranch Dog »

Don't know how many of you participate in the Big Time Texas Hunts Lottery but the winner of the Ultimate Mule Deer Hunt, Stephen Knowles of Austin, just completed his hunt on the Yoakum Dunes Wildlife Management Area. The WMA is a new 14,000 acre unit near Lubbock. This was Mr. Knowles first mule deer hunt and he did real good!

Mule Deer ? Looks like a Moose !

RD we have something similar at one of the Nuclear Power Plants.
Some guys at work put my name in the drawing and of
course I won a spot. I don't hunt, only rifle I had at the time was
a .22 rimfire. So the guy that submitted my name got the spot.
Too much water under the bridge to remember if he scored a kill.

What's interesting is every "kill" must be checked with a Geiger
counter before it is released just in case it "lights" up. I don't
recall ever hearing of one that did ?

From what I remember it was a very controlled hunt. You were
put on a spot and told "Don't Move From Here" and the deer were
driven towards the hunters. Similar to the range you keep the
muzzle pointed in front of you.

Lot of deer were harvested. Jim

That doesn't sound much like a hunt. Sounds more like a shooting gallery.
