Nice bow, nice story Moon. Taking a deer with a stick bow is my next deer hunting ambition. Mine is hickory, son's hedge and wife's is mulberry

ksmoose, all three woods are great bow wood. Only problem with hickory is it soaks up moisture. Keep it sealed well.

Here's the skull all cleaned up and ready to be mounted on a board and hung in my man cave.

Nice! How long will the velvet last?

RD, I haven't a clue how long the velvet will last. This deer was starting to shed it's velvet. Ten or twelve years ago, a member of our deer camp shot a 4 pointer in FULL velvet in November. Brian cleaned that one up, also. It's still hanging in our cabin and the velvet is still on it. I'm hoping it just dries like buckskin on the antler. Only time will tell.
