The mailman delivered the box today.

Post by Ray384 »

My mould and sizers came in the mail from Ranch Dog. The mould looks great and luckily the weather looks good for next week. I have bought the .460 425 grain size for my two non-Rossi .45/70`s. Jerry at Carolina Bullets helped me decide to get it. He sold me some 350 grain bullets that I ran as a test. They were accurate in both rifles so I went with the heavier bullet, I can only shoot low velocity, so the heavier usually do better.

Very fast service.

Well I fired up the Lee pot and commenced to pouring bullets. I tell you this mold goes through some lead. I had a pile of bullets before I knew it. In fact, this experience made me rethink casting bullets.

I thought those Lee double molds were quick, and I would keep about 3 running at a time, but this 6 bullet mold puts that way to shame. So I gathered up my misc. moulds and put them up for sale, and ordered a couple of the Lee 6 molds. I am casting bullets for CAS and WB so I go through quite a few, and these molds will make it possible.

It was easy to use, I just followed directions and avoided the pitfalls I had read about.

Great product Ranch Dog.

Thanks for the note Ray, no sense in messing around when it comes to dropping bullets!

i traded off a 45-70 mold some time ago and of course ended up getting a rifle.
thinking i had gotten rid of my 45-70 mold, i was quite surprised to see a two cavity aluminum mold with handles attatched in one of my mold drawers.
i knew it wasn't my rapine for the 25-20 as i had taken the handles off that for my 22 cal core mold.
i investigated a bit further it was a brand new ranch dog 425gr gas check mold.
so i guess i swapped sumthin or bought one at one time or another, now i just gotta get some cast up and checked.
not sure when or where i got it from.

I have Michaels 460-300RF and the 350grain version that casts great bullets.

Now to find enough time to cast, load, "AND" shoot.................yeah, right.
