You boys wouldn't like to watch me alloy my mix. For more years than I can remember my standard mix is 30:1, the 30 being anything that is soft and 10 is the hard type metal which I have in abundant supply and will probably never run out of either. No matter what I cast with this alloy I can usually count on having a nice tight group. Works for me! Except for an emergency casting session I have not sat down this winter and emptied a few pots. I know that Spring will be here shortly and those beautiful sunny days but I prefer 20º temps for my casting.

As for lube, I make my own there too, 50% Beeswax and 50% Alox heated together poured into pipes about an inch across, cooled then ejected from the moulds, cut to length and boxed up for future use. I have enough of this lube to see me until the Pearly Gates beacon. I am going to miss my casting stuff when my number is pulled.
