R92 357 Mag vs. Lee C358-200-RF

Post by Maximumbob54 »

The following has been split from: 357 Mag on the road to redemption as a hog rifle![hr]
I'm very impressed the heavier bullet holds more velocity and quite a bit more at that when it starts out with slightly less from the muzzle. In hindsight it makes sense because it holds true in rifles at rifle distances but I didn't think it held so true with handgun loads. This ignorance has kept me from using heavier weight bullets than usual for caliber.

I'm sorely tempted by that LilGun load. My Lee clone is 200gr while the RD is 188-190gr. Would I be able to back off .5gr from the QL starter of 15gr for a starter?

Good data RD.

Maximumbob54,
MV vs. MV^2
Exterior ballistics are what happens outside the barrel.
Long as the bullet remains stable everything else works the same.

Yeah, I make quite a few bad assumptions that I stick with. Thankfully, I'm always open to being shown that I'm wrong. At least if I'm hard headed I'm not completely hard headed. Or something to that effect.

The first thing is to know something about the bullet:
  1. What is the actual weight of the bullet with the gas check?
  2. What is the OAL of the bullet?
  3. What is the nose length? This is the length from the flat of the nose to the forward edge of crimp groove.
  4. Finally, do you have both 357 Mag & 38 Spl brass?

That's what my own brain was telling me but I guess I needed to hear it.

And I now have a new chronometer on the way.

I hope I don't regret being cheap:

I liked the fact that it connects to the phone. I've already downloaded the app for it. I would have bought a fancier model with more options but I've continuously poured enough money into this hobby as of late.

I bought it and love the thing! As long as I use the light screens, it records 100% of the shots.

It replaced a much more expensive CED that was very finicky. The tripod is a bit cheap but has worked fine to date.

I would have sworn you bought a different model. Now I'm glad it's got a solid review.
