R92 & Lee C452-300-RF
R92 & Lee C452-300-RF
I'm fairly new at bullet casting but I have been casting and shooting 230 grain .452 boolits in my 92 for a while now. With 6.3 grain of Trail Boss the accuracy has exceeded my expectations. Couldn't be happier! I'm really enjoying this new hobby. But now I want to develop a heavier hunting load to be used for black bear and maybe hogs. Has anyone had any experience with this mold and the bullet it produces in their 92? someone mentioned to me that I may experience cycling issues

Hello,
I have this mold. I don't shoot it in a rifle but I do shoot it in my Rugers (Vaquero and Blackhawks). I really like it. Before you buy the mold I would be happy to send you some to try out. I cast from wheel weights with a little tin added. Sorry, I don't have any .45 caliber gas checks though. I shoot them as cast so you may want to run them through a sizer. Let me know.

I did a quick search but could find the info but I think it would work well in the Rossi R92, I know some fellows here are using it.

The 300 grainer works pretty good in my 45 Colt 92 but really shines in my 92 in .454.

I have plenty of 45cal gas checks and wouldn't miss a few . Let me know if you can use some .

Thanks OSS! Right now I'm recovering from rotator cuff surgery and I can see it will be a while before I'll be operating the ram on my press. I id order this mold and at the same time I ordered gas checks. I don't know if I'll need the but at least I have them. Thanks for the offer though

Re: R92 & Lee C452-300-RF
These boolits feed slick as snot through all 3 of my 45 cal. Rossi R92's. They do need to be seated to the second crimp groove in both the 45 Colt and 454 Casull. The only exception is I can load them to the first crimp groove in 45 Colt brass and run them through the 454 Puma. I don't bother though. No real advantage to it.

This thread is a few pages but there is some information from my evolution of hunting loads and others with similar pursuits.

The final verdict dictated the 452-300RF bullet dip lubed Ranch Dog style with Liquid Alox over 20.0gr of Lil Gun. WARNING, that is well into Ruger / Freedom Arms level loads. Lil Gun is not tolerant of too little powder. I recommend it but you will want to be careful finding your optimum mix.
