Have you ever loaded any .357 200grain?i do not reload now but bought a bunch of 200 gr corbon years back that are murder on deer. Most of the time deer are dead in there tracks. I have two boxes left out of ten.

I shoot a 190-grain cast bullet from my R92 357 that I designed for the 35 Rem. I must use a 38 Spl case to make the cartridge overall length work out, but it is loaded to 357 Mag pressures. Deer and hogs don't like the mix.



I use hard cast bullets with a meplat of 72%. A lot of folks don't understand the terminal ballistics of how a hard cast bullet works because their base of knowledge was formed their experience with exposed lead core jacketed bullets that mushroom. I don't want my lead bullets to deform (mushroom), I want that flat point to push completely through the animal without distortion. The math on the terminal effect has been in place for a lot of years and with this bullet as an example, it will deliver a 1" cookie cutter hole through any hog and deer it impacts. Here is feral hog that was 80 yards out. 1" through and through.

I answered a PM so I'd like to ask in the open about the 15.5gr Lil Gun load. I can fit my 187's in .357 brass in both my Blackhawk and R92. I'm in the 17-18.5gr range (R92 only). How scary is that at 1.615" OAL in .357 brass using my NOE 360180 RF GC?

Your NOE 360-183-RF GC AJ5 bullet at a cartridge length of 1.615" with 15.0-grains is pretty well max'd out because with the bullet seated, it is at 104% of the useful case capacity (compressed). At 70º, It would be producing approximately 32.8K PSI and 1702 FPS from a 20" barrel.

I shoot compressed loads of Lil'Gun and a little goes a heck of a long way. 1/10th of a grain can make a huge change at this point. I've worked with it up to 105% compression, but there it becomes very tough to keep a lubed bullet seated (with any powder). 105% is at 15.2-grains of Lil'Gun.

Before you pull anything, could you get me an average length of your lot of bullets? It would also be most helpful if I could also get an average H₂O of your cases. Your use of the heavy bullet makes all the factors that make up interior ballistics critical. These two are the principal factors in the calculations.

To get the H₂O capacity of a case, you weight it empty and then weigh it filled with water. The difference in the two weights is the capacity. Distilled water is best in that the specific gravity of it is known, but for our purposes, your tap water will work fine. The water should be flat with the mouth of the case, you can form a bead above the mouth and then wick it flat with a kleenex. Make sure there are no water drops on the outside of the case after filling.

Measure enough bullets and weigh enough cases to form an average.

Here is my R92 357 Mag heavy.

I haven't shot any of the Lil Gun loads.
I've only shot H110 and 2400 loads with this bullet in my Blackhawk and R92.

I pulled six of 12 I had. Pretty much nothing I quoted from memory is correct.

I have OAL, charge weight, bullet weight as loaded. I need the case capacity (Starline). I guess I need to ruin six good primers by filling with water?
