Ordered two new 4-hole turrets and FCDs for both 9mm and .45ACP today to go with two new to me AutoDisc Pros headed north from the Valley.

I just purchased a ruger blackhawk in 30 carbine, as a companion for my 94 in 30-30.
Found a set of lyman ideal 310 dies in 30 carbine on ebay.
Ordered 30 carbine starline brass, and have been practicing making up dummy rounds, finding the proper crimp, making small game loads with .310 45 gr round ball, etc., for the blackhawk.

I never buy fresh brass, myself. I find good deals on ammo, and collect all the brass. Maybe it's hard to find inexpensive 30 carbine?

Most of the 30 carbine ammo on the shelves is loaded for rifles.
I bought some and put back, but still wanted some new good quality starline brass for making up pistol loads.
I plan on making up some hot and heavy loads for the blackhawk.
I also bought a set of cartridge adapters from Ace Dube up in Anchorage, they allow me to use 30/32 caliber pistol ammo out of the 94.
One of the adapters allows me to fire 30 carbine from the 94.

I paid $48.00 for this set of dies.
I thought they would be wore out and used up.
But they appear to have never been used.

At one time I shot my Universal M1 quite a bit, but I haven't in years. I bought a thousand cases two years ago, still didn't get to it, but late last year I bought a mold from NOE and did get a starting run of bullets cast. I want to move the reloading from a turret press to a Load-Master as that is some of the problems with the rifle, you end up going through a lot of cartridges.

I knew nothing about the 30 carbine but researched for at least a month before buying the blackhawk.
I came across articles by Paco Kelly and others, reading everything I could find.
Had to make sure I was ready to start putting back brass and such for another caliber.

Paco is using 311440 bullets for the 30-30 and loading them up in the 30 carbine blackhawk.
I bought the NOE version of the 311440 last month.

I got the 4 cavity GC.
I already had the RCBS 150 cowboy mold.
But I am not ready to load 10.5 gr of 2400 with either bullet, not just yet.
Even though the 30 carbine cylinder is the same size as the 357 mag, and they say it is the strongest blackhawk on the market, still makes me a little nervous.
I will start with a lesser charge and chrono all the loads, increasing the charge in small increments until I hit 1200 FPS.

I love 2400 for .357. I've never loaded 30C but 10 grains sounds really low and I sure don't like loading 2400 light.

This will be my first time using 2400.
I found some at the LGS and bought 6 lbs.
Thinking about starting out with 9 or 9.5 gr of 2400, load 3 rds and run them through the caldwell chrono.
The article says you need 1200 FPS to stabilize the bullet out to 100 yds.
Also bought a primitive scissor muzzleloading mold for making round ball.
It makes a .310 45 grain rd ball, should be good for small game.

I was in sportsmans warehouse in Lexington yesterday, they had 5 lb boxes of 00 buckshot,(.330) put the box in my cart, then put it back, dont know if I want to resize the entire box down to .311/.309.

I just picked up some 2400 myself. I've read several warnings about under-loading, so don't be overly conservative.
