Ladder loaded the 240 gr JSP from Zero bullet co.
18.0 -19.5 gr of 2400 federal lpp got good results with the 19 and 19.5 loads.
Clean burning.
Tried 18 gr of AA 5744 and was good also. Actually got a little flame from the 20 in barrel.
Didn't get to chrony because the range was a swamp.
Hopefully this next weekend.

Re: 44 mag in the Rossi
I do like A2400 for the .44 mag and .357 mag, but 3-4 years ago there was almost no A2400 to be had in my neck of the woods. Prior to the disappearance of the Aliant powders I'd used AA#7 for some moderate .357 rounds as well as 9mm, so when I ran across AA#9 on the shelf I decided to give it a whirl for the magnum revolver rounds. I have to admit, I've been a die hard fan of AA#9 for both cast and jacketed ever since. I did run across a couple of pounds of A2400 last month locally, but it will probably sit in reserve for a while. I now use AA#5, AA#7 and AA#9 for just about everything handgun cartridge related, but still have plenty of Aliant and Hodgdon powders to back them up (as well as my favorite powderpuff - Trail Boss).

Re: 44 mag in the Rossi
I buy all the 2400 in person I can afford. Haven't seen any in a couple years.

Re: 44 mag in the Rossi
I settled in on 19.3 grs of 2400 in both the 44 mag and 45 colt as my well hunting load quite some time back.
I have no problem touching one off at an animal out to 150 yds with either rifle.
depending on the brass I get between 1600 and 1650 fps in the 24" rifles from both case sizes.
why 19.3 you ask well,, that is about as big as the powder bar on the dillon would reliably drop.
coincidentally it also drops my 223's jacketed load and the load I use in my 30-30 with a cast 150grn boolit with AA-2230 powder at the same setting making life a whole lot easier.
