Anybody tried Enforcer or 4100 for the 44 mag
I love Hodgdon and IMR powders but I was looking around for loads for my new 300g Mold from NOE 44 mag mold that I got for my 92. There isn't a huge amount of data out there for that weight. I pulled up Western Powders reloading info and they list 4100 and Enforcer as 1200 fps as a starting load for the 44 mag w/ an 8" barrel. Lyman has their loads from 900 to 1100 fps w/ 4227 and H110 in the cast hand loads book. That has to be pushing 1600 to 1800 fps from a 20" barrel. That's a good stiff load. Anyone else use these powders?

I don't use either but I've been working on load data for both the Ranch Dog & NOE design. Here is a Load Notes sheet for my TLC432-300-RF. You mentioned the specific bullet mold you have but I could not remember what it was, this should get you close.

Looking at Load Data they show a 300 gr JHP using Enforcer with 16 gr starting and 17 gr max 1057 to 1164 out of a 8.5" barrel.
I also find a listing for a Lyman 300gr cast using True Blue starting at 9.8 and going up to 11. Velocities are under 1000fps with that powder.
A 300 gr RCBS cast SWC with only a max load of 17 gr of Enforcer.
Out at the Western web site they have a section where you can the ballistics lab about loads etc. I've read some of their answers and they seem to give pretty complete ones when they can and admit when they don't have the data.

Thanks RD Great Sheet. I got the 434640 mold gc.
Ohio3wheels, Western powder lists a load of Enforcer for a 300g (L) WNFP bullet for 16.7 1200 fps to 18.5 1325fps.

By the way RD that sheet was worth my contribution to the site alone. Thanks a million.

Not too surprised, Load Data doesn't always have the latest manufacture's details. It's still a handy sight and so far has been worth the subscription for me.kungfustyle wrote:Thanks RD Great Sheet. I got the 434640 mold gc.
