Managed to get to the range Sunday and glad I did. Temps were in the upper 40's and sunny so it was a decent day. Looks like the last for at least as far out as the weather guessers are attempting to forecast.
Major reason for the trip was to test some new loads in the Sharps. I suspect they'll work out once I get a bug or two out. However, there were a couple new loads that needed checking out in the '92 one using a local caster's 200 grain round nose and another using Rainer's 250 grain plated.
The 200 grain was on top of 6.5 grains of Tightgroup and while they stayed in the 8" bull at 100 yards they were nothing to brag about and the cases were smoked all the way to the rim. They cycled fine and the crimp was tight enough to keep the boolits where they belong during their trip through the gun. May have to up the load and see if the cases obdurate fast enough to cut down/out the excess smoking.
The Rainer bullet was on top of 22 grains of Blackhorn 209, these stayed inside 4" at 100, minimal smoking on the case, fed great (1.615 OAL) and would make a nice plinking load. Gets a little white smoke out of the rifle with minimal clean up. Kinda fun
Make smoke,

27 F at the moment but the wind finally died down.
Still ... think I'll sit it out awhile longer.
