to make that evenly circumscribed line around the 4" ID pipe, take a piece of 11x17 paper and wrap it around the pipe .... when the edges of the paper align you should have a pretty square cut line to mark.

Hey jd, I hadn't thought about that trick but sounds like a good idea !

When the ice melts off the road I'll get the pvc.

Thanks, Jim

We have trouble with the amateurs up here also. Then there's the 4WD types with the "I don't need to slow down I've got 4 wheel drive." :) See lots of them in ditches this time of year.

So is there an advantage of using a rotary tumbler with brass pins vs the standard vibratory tumbler with say treated corn cob or walnut hulls? That is all I have ever used and get good results.

I see the rotary tumblers used more often these days and wonder what the difference in the end result is. By the way I guess you guys are doing this wet? Doesn't that add extra time since you have to dry them?

Actually stainless pins and yes it does take that extra step to dry them, but clean like new cases is worth it particularly with black powder cartridges.

Ditto what O3W said !

You just can't imagine the difference till you try the ss pins.
Previously I used an ultrasonic and there's no comparison.
Can't speak about the other media other than I hear it's a
mess. The pins do a super job of cleaning the primer hole.

Drying time is not a big deal for me as I just let them air
dry and reload at my convenience.

As a side note ... those using the Harbor Freight Rotary drum.
Get rid of that original lid, replace it with another 4" clean
out plug. Makes changing a simple experience.

How much pistol brass like .45 Colt or .44 Mag can you clean at a time in that little 4" drum?

Bruce or anyone ... how did you cut the 4" pvc ... I'm terrible at

Jim
A compound miter saw with a carbide blade is the way to go if you want a perfectly square and flat cut on the end. Not to mention the quickest. That is how I cut all my large pvc pipe.

I'd have to guess Greebe ... I recently shot two mags ( 16 rounds ) of .45 auto and they didn't
take up hardly any room in the drum. So, guessing ... I'd say 50 ???

50+ for sure of the .357mag, .40 or .38sp.

I don't shoot a bunch of rounds when I go to the range, usually if I shoot both the carbine
and a pistol I might shoot a combination of around 50 rounds. That's not counting the .22lr
rifle or pistol, I do get carried away with them.

Thanks. I usually clean 200-400 cases at a time in my vibratory tumbler. Thinking of building a 6" rotary tumbler to try out, but not sure if a rotary tumbler is worth the extra steps in decamping seperatly before cleaning and then having to resize after cleaning. Also not sure about the extra work involved in a wet wash and drying operation. I am intrigued by it though.
