I was just trying to cheat as I have W296 and 2400 but no Lil Gun.

Btw, I think the MP version and the NOE version are exactly the same, as long as they are both based off of the original Glenn Larson design. I then add a pb gas check to the bullet. With 50/50 ww/soft alloy I get around 190 grains in its solid form. Anyway, around 16 grains lil gun gets me 1800 fps out of the 16" tube in my Rossi in 357 mag brass, of course

I've chronographed the above load at 100 and 200 yards. I get around 1400 fps at 100 and 1100-1125 at 200. When I punched those velocites into the JBM ballistics program, I get a BC around .17 over that range of velocity.
cdmajesty,

What kind of accuracy were you getting at 200 yards? Since you shot across your chronograph, I assume you were confident that it was going to be accurate "enough".

Gas,

Did you look at the chart that RD posted? It would be a good place to get you started with that 296 powder.

With peep sights, it will do around 5" for 5 shots, benched, of course. I've taken a knee and fired off a tube-full in relatively quick procession, and had most of them in go into an 8" circle, more or less.

I think 8 inches at 200 is pretty good for that kind of shooting.

And 5 inch sounds reasonable from the bench. I have never shot paper out that far with any of mine. I can hit an 8x16" square steel plate at 230 yards "most" of the time, But that was with my 44. I bet the 357 can do that too and probably better with this load. The 44 load was a weak one and took two more notches on the sight elevator.

The way I have my 357 16" Rossi set up makes it so reliable that I actually shoot better with it than my 20" Winchester 94. What can I say, it just feels right. I'm sure many Rossi shooters feel the same way. I actually don't shoot paper anymore, only steel now. The heavy wfn at 1800 fps still makes a pretty good "clang" on the target, even at 200. Heavy crosswinds are another matter... Next summer I really need to see what it does (and velocity too) at 250-300 yards.

I only bought the LG yesterday LOL

The rest is just build up.

:)

I label everything. I know my memory will start going so I'm getting prepared. The powders get tape across the lid until they're opened. I label the tape with the date bought and the price paid. When open, I label when it was opened (on the side) and how much (approx) was used. I do the same with primers. If I open a case, I keep tally on how many of the individual boxes are left and label those if there is a partial left over....

My dealer just called and I have two pounds of LilGun waiting for me. Hoping to get some loaded up in the next few weeks.
