Did you recover any 154 gr Tula bullets from critters and see expansion?
The online test I saw was at pretty close range.

When I test the Prvi Pointed Soft Point, I'll do some testing of the Tula as well.

Good news so far is that the PSP has the same aim point as the Round Nose,
with no scope adjustment necessary.

I have the CZ zeroed at 2 inches high at 100 yards.

Picture shows the difference using and not using the 'set trigger'.
The two yellow holes were with the set trigger; the three black dots
were without using the set trigger. Both groups at 100 yards.

No never recovered a bullet 154-grain PSP steel core Tula that I recall. That CZ is shooting good!

Gives me hope for the 140 grain PSP from Prvi in 6.5x55 IF they don't fold in on themselves too much.
I have my doubts that the 140s will shoot to the same point of aim as the 120 BTHPs however.

Let me put an asterisk on the testing method used on these rifle bullets.

The plastic on the 5 gallon plastic water buckets used is about one-tenth of an inch thick,
and the plastic is pretty stiff. The buckets are donated by the local Chinese restaurant.
I'm wondering how much the hard plastic might skew the expansion and integrity
of the pointed soft point bullets.

The 7.62x39 Prvi Partizan PSP pointed soft point 123 grain expanded
but the lead and the copper jackets were pretty torn up.

Pictured below is a comparison between the soft point round nose and the PSP
both shot into 5 gallon capacity water buckets at 150 yards.

Next I fired the Tula 7.62x39 154 Grain pointed soft point into the same buckets.
Someone online had posted that this round will expand at 100 yards, but not at 150.
The goal was to determine the yardage limit at which it would no longer expand.

One of the challenges faced when using round water buckets is that with an off-center hit,
the bullet will often deflect off the last bucket and not be found. While this happened today,
there was a nice unexpanded bullet indentation in the third bucket which suggests that
the Tula tumbled with no expansion at 150 yards.

Might have to find a source for square 5 gallon buckets.

I wish I could get you a box of Federal Fusion to you without shipping as it would be interesting to see its results in comparison. I have had a few kids use it here and it knocks a big hole through critters.

Good to know.
I've considered using it in .243 Win but with the Kaliban on lead phasing into effect I suspect we'll be using TSX, TTSX and GMX mostly from now one.

Neither the local sporting goods store nor Academy had any of the Fusion 7.62x39.

Below is a 125 yard comparison between the Prvi Round Nose
and non-Fusion Federal Hi-Shok pointed soft points in 7.62x39.

The Federal Hi-Shock looks pretty good. What about accuracy. The bullet also looks pretty long compared the that round nose.

They say that when Mae West visited MIT, she asked a graduate student
"Is that a caliper in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

Yes, the Federal Hi-Shok PSP (OAL 2.178) measured longer than the Prvi Round Nose (OAL about 1.95).
For grins, I measured some Herters PSP (OAL about 2.19) and some Prvi PSP (OAL about 2.185)

Three bullets from each brand were measured
The Federal lengths were consistent, while the other brands
varied a few thousandths from bullet to bullet.
Federal makes good ammo.

The Federal Hi-Shok that I tested is old stock.
Federal's website no longer lists Hi-Shok, showing instead Federal 'Power-Shok'.
Hi-Shok may no longer be available.

Every time two of the same brand of bullets shot out of the same rifle
do not go in the same hole, I blame myself. That said, all of the brands
that I tested (including Federal) provided about the same accuracy,
grouping around 1.5" at 100 yards.

If it matters, some say that the European bullets are .311 in diameter, while the American bullets
are .310.
