A bit late but still done

Linda always wanted a Henry in rim-fire. Unfortunately I wasn't able to fulfill that wish before she passed in October. Today at a gun show I found a Golden Boy in 22RF and it's now in the safe. I'll get out with it tomorrow I hope to see if it shoots as good as if looks.

I kept intending to post to this thread but for the most part have not logged in much since you started it.

How'd the range trip go?

I've got a black painted Henry Octagonal and it is one of the most fun guns I own.
The paint on the receiver cover isn't what I'd call the most durable and I may cerakote it at some point in the future if it gets nappy enough.

I haven't shot my 1951 39A since mounting the vintage steel peep sight but it's riding around in my truck since my employer reinstated the squirrel bounty.

Several range trips have been fine. It doesn't seem to have a preference for ammo. I had some Federal Standard velocity left over from the 90s up through a new box of Winchester 333 that I caught on sale at Cabelas. My eyes could use a more visible front sight, but that's not a fault of the gun more these 75 year old eyes and the lighting at the range, indoor, doesn't light the brass bead real well.

Fun gun and a good feeling every time I take it out.

I still want a Henry with an octagonal barrel in .22 WM.
I don't NEED one, but I want one.

Me, too, but I've got a Ruger Precision Rimfire in 22 WMR on order and will hopefully see it in the next few days. Then to pick a scope.

I recently got a Marlin 783 and mounted a brand new Vortex to it. Haven't shot it either. Man, I'm lame.

They have a Vortex in the case at the shop where the gun is on order it's a 4 to 16 and about right for the WMR so it may wind up on the gun.

I opted for the cheaper version in 2-7X32. I like it a lot but it's too bad I had to buy medium rings to clear the bolt handle.
