Ithaca Model 49 with Williams Sight

Post by SaltH2Odeprived »

My first gun, an Ithaca Model 49 Saddle Gun single shot 22 cal.
Dad gave it to me on my 13th birthday.
I refinished it about two years ago.
Recently found and installed a vintage Williams Receiver Sight that was made for the 49.
I drilled and tapped the front plug in the fake magazine tube to hold the additional larger peep aperture.

Yes, very nice indeed. I have a similar vintage Williams receiver sight on my boyhood Savage Model 24. Your pictures made me realize that I really need to polish the brass ring.

So, I had to remove the original rear sight after installing the Williams Sight, leaving the dovetail slot open.
I looked at some dovetail blank fillers that cost 6 to 8 dollars and decided to make my own, it only cost me a Penny.
