Amadeo Rossi 357 Revolver

Post by dvw86 »

I'm trying to do two things here for my dad. One is identify this revolver. It is a stainless steel .357, smooth cylinder, 6 inch barrel and has the firing pin on the hammer. It looks a lot like an old S&W 66-2. Does anybody know what model it is? Also, the firing pin is broken. The little nub on the end has broken off. Worst case is that I have to make one from scratch, but does anybody know what (if any) S&W parts will fit this? It looks like S&W is starting to discontinue some parts for their older revolvers.

713?

Open the cylinder and look inside the crane for a stamp. That's where my M88 is stamped.

Thanks GG. It's an M13. At least I think it is. The stamping is a bit hard to read. Does anybody know what S&W that is a copy of? Google doesn't have much info on it.

Similar to SW K-frame.

Might be related to more modern Rossi revolver models 971, 951, 851 for the guts.

Parts kits on eBay missing hammer and Numrich has no hammers for the above listed guns so maybe they're failure prone.

Thanks all. I didn't see much of anything that would fit it (or anything at all). So I simply made a new Hammer Nose (firing pin) and Hammer Nose Rivet. It went "bang" six times in a row without any issues, so I'm calling it good. The rivet hole size is a bit odd (like all things Rossi) so I'm not sure that a Smith and Wesson part would have fit anyways. The Hammer nose is made of D2 tool steel and the rivet is 316 stainless steel. Hopefully they last longer than the Rossi parts. That little spring behind the Hammer Nose is SUPER easy to loose. I had to be extra careful to keep track of it.

That is a good looking gun. Your fix will likely last forever.
