Two Thumbs up for Rossi 851!

Two Thumbs Up,

Recently picked up a Rossi 851 .38 special to use as a plinking/target fun gun. Since I roll my own bullets, I'm able to make 50 rounds for around $3.00. I already had a Lee DeWC mold, a can of Universal Clays and plenty of brass. That means I'm shooting my .38 for less then the cost of a box of .22s these days. My first impression at the range was very positive.... great sights, no recoil to speak of and excellent trigger in single mode...... not bad in double. I found it pretty easy to shoot one handed, off-hand groups of 2" or less at ten yards. I'm sure that if I secured my gun in a good rest, I'd see one ragged hole from that distance. Nice accuracy!

The second time I took my Rossi to the range was to compete in a fun shoot/fund raiser at my local club. The top 10 scorers were going to get a special nod and I scored #7. There were between 30-40 entries. There were lots of guys with high dollar handguns that didn't place. The only thing holding my Rossi back from an even better performance was me. Bottom line..... I'm impressed! +guns

My gun is the blued model and I found the fit and finish to be very good. Looks like I've found another "goto" gun. Funny thing is that my other "most likely to take shooting gun" is my Rossi 92 in .44 mag with 24" octagon barrel. Only modification with my 92 was one spring, and tang rear/globe front sight. People can bash Rossi all they want, but for pure shooting fun they are hard to beat!

I have the 351 and it has actually become my favorite carry ousting my PT745. I shoot a cast bullet of my design, the TL358-135-RF, with 15.5-grains of H4227.

Is the 351 you refer to the same as the Model 35102 on the website?
My nephew has 85104, he says "It's Accurate.". He uses my old 38 load.

It sounds like you made a good choice aprayinbear! I've never owned a Rossi revolver, but I might just reconsider.
