Surplus 841 Rossi?

Postby Stephan » 13 Apr 2014 14

I bought-up some .38 revolvers during the last couple years..Smith&wessons..Taurus..Colt..and a single Rossi 841 Century imported surplus revolver.

It's a ruff specimen of the breed..and doesn't seem to be too many of these floating around. I dug through a couple old 'Guntrader Guides' and couldn't find the Rossi Model 841 listed. Despite it's well-used condition this old Rossi is really a sweet-shooter!

Any ideas just when Rossi produced the Model 841 revolvers..and did they import these into the states(besides Century police trades from where-ever)?

The only thing I read, most of it on TaurusArmed.net, is that owners feel the same way that you do. They might be scuffed up a bit but the owners take a quick shine to them.

Okay, you know the drill! Where are the pictures?

I actually looked at some new digital cameras yesterday...have not bought one yet. mine gone missing sometime back...and money spent on other stuff(such as Rossi 841 and .44-40 Rossi..ancient .44-40 Winchester...Glock 20..etc).

maybe I can get my kid to put a pic up...

Nobody know anything about a Rossi 841?...Looks about the same as an early 971/851 excepting fixed sights.

Wonder if it was a Rossi model not imported to the states back in the day?

First Rossi, and then Taurus, pioneered Brazilian gumaking excellence after World War II. Both Companies’ revolvers are heavily indebted to Smith & Wesson for design. This Rossi Model 841, however, ancestor to our current favorite model 851, shows strong similarity to Colt Revolvers, with the small frame and full lug barrel. From this one’s letter E serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1985, the first full year of production for the 841. Factory specs are as follows: Double and Single Action Revolver; Caliber .38 Special; Barrel 4 inch full lug ribbed; 6 rounds capacity; transfer bar safety device; .312 serrated face steel trigger; .400 semi target hammer nose style hammer; Square Butt Grip frame with lanyard ring; Brazilian Walnut Target Grips recessed for a DS/A Detective Special speedloader; Serrated Ramp Front Sight with fixed Notch Rear Sight; weight 33 oz empty; blue steel construction. Taken from an auction listing I cannot take credit or back this info as fact. +corn
