Tauras 82
Just picked up a older 1980-81 Tauras 82. Cleaned it up and checked it out good before shooting and seems to be nice and tight and shoots fairly tight groups so think it will be a fun shooter, truck gun. Has alot of holster wear and wood grips are weathered and beat up but that just gives it character. I have read that most of these were police issue that have been imported in after service. Is suppost to be +P rated but will see little or none for my use. Any issues or comments I would love to hear about them. O ya its a 38 special 4" barrel. The tauras revolver cleaning pictorial was a help too. Thanks

It groups good enough to kill pop cans at 25ft. Not every shot hits but thats me i'm sure. I'll have 4 in a 3-4 inch group then a couple way off. Should get better once I figure it out.

There is nothing wrong with that!! I always figured if I would keep them in a paper plate at 25 yards I would put whatever it was on the ground.

I bought a dozen of the Taurus 82's last year and had a helluva time selliing them at $200/pop. They clean up nice and if you put Wolff springs in them they are REALLY good shooters. I've sold several to friends and had no complaints and my wife even likes the 82 I built for her better than her damn Smith and Wesson 38's!
All have been good shooters and several I've taken down and used Brownells Aluma-Hyde II on -- they look extremely nice when you leave a bead blast finish on them in OD Green.

I know a fellow who has a Tauras 82 just like the one you are talking about...he handloads ammo on the side and uses the ole 82 to test his 38spl. loads .. he loads some 38 Spl +ps but mostly 148gr LWC's .. and he is also a avid shooter...he has owned this 82 for years, the grips are taped with duct tape (Camo) and has 1000's ans 1000's of rounds through that gun.. it is one of his carry guns.. also..the gun is worn , taped ..but shoots .well......I always keep my eyes open for a good 82...

I have one of the older skinny barrel Cow Head Taurus 82 guns and while I think it has a crazy heavy double action, the single action is decent enough.
I like the milling on the top strap as it reminds me of a (super poor) poor man's S&W M27:
And this would be why I call them "cow head" Taurus revolvers:
The sights seem to be regulated for 158gr standard pressure loads which is the normal. I have to admit if I found another one and a heavy barrel at that for $200 you would have to kick me away from it.
