Hi
before I actually do anything to my RioGrande I was wondering a few things.
What wood is it?
Has it been treated with anything?
To me the wood feels and smells "raw" but the finish is nice and smooth, indicating nice sanding. I was thinking of applying a linseed oil finish to it, but wanted to be sure of what was there before I did this.
Thanks

Somewhere on the forum, I think in the 92 forum, a fellow that was very familiar with wood identified the wood but the exact species escapes me. It is a hardwood with out much of a finish and a lot of members here have used linseed or Tru-Oil without much prep.

Re: The Wood?
I'm not sure what type of wood it is, but I rubbed 6 coats of boiled linseed oil on my Rio Grande and it turned out nice. It is a deep red/orange. It looks nice with the stainless finish on the gun.
