Was looking at a Rio Grande in 45-70 this fall but went with a newly manufactured Marlin (Remington) Guide Gun blued model 1895G instead.
The GG was a handier size for the ATV and had a real walnut stock instead of cheaply stained jungle wood and seemed to be of generally better quality than the Rio.
The GGs I looked at just after Remington bought Marlin from the Kennas made in the new Ilion factory had terrible fit and finish and one of them wouldn't even cycle.
Had a chance to look at some recently made GGs and 336Cs this summer and the average quality has improved a lot and I made a purchase after checking the gun for workmanship and function problems.
Might look at a Rio in 30-30 in the future if the price is right.
Those Rio stocks are not very impressive and the money is about the same as an equivalent Marlin.
Another detractor is that Rossi parts are hard if not impossible to get.
