Uncle Mike's Hammer Spur screw replacement

Post by Centaur 1 »

I was going to add to the hammer spur thread, but I see it's locked. After going back and reading the thread I see that nobody mentioned replacing the set screw. I picked up one of the Uncle Mikes hammer spurs yesterday and it fit perfect without any fitting needed. I had an extra 4-40 x 3/8" socket head cap screw in with my gunsmith supplies from when I replaced the set screw in my Marlin hammer spur, and the Uncle Mikes spur uses the same size screw. The screw head uses a larger hex wrench than the set screw, allowing the hammer spur to be held tighter with less risk of stripping the screw head. Ace hardware has these screws for about .25 cents each, well worth the price.
