Mine has never done that but I have heard about it in lever actions. Thanks for the info on what was wrong. Will definitely have to inpect my sear more often. That is something that could be a real issue.

I can't imagine the sear failure being 410 specific either. I think you will be happy with the Marlin extractor. It is a much stronger piece and really works well in my 410.

On my new Rossi 410 ( I have several Rossi and Marlin lever guns) I see the Rossi factory extractor is ground at a angle to compensate for the off center extractor location milled in the barrel. I understand the "twist"...the Marlin 30-30 extractor is square and the milled extractor location makes it raises up allowing it to slip off the hull case rim when shut against the milled extractor area in the barrel.

So is this A) a new thing or B) you guys filing/grinding the Marlin 30-30 extractor?

I am having no issues mind you. Just curious. I installed the Marlin extractor and it slipped off about every other one....put the factory Rossi back in and all is well.

Sorry for the late response. I installed mine with no filing and it works great. I guess every Rossi is unique is what I have learned. What works for one may not work well for another without some operator input.
