.35 Rem. RG?
Does anyone know if Rossi has any plans to chamber a RG in .35 Remington? I, for one, would be interested...

I really do not think they will as it is not a main stream cartidge but who knows maybe someday. I have always enjoyed this cartridge but is almost unknown by the masses. plenty of used offerings for this though for this reason are out there for the taking in good prices if one shoppes carfully

I think Marlin was the only one keeping that around and now Remlin (I think) has dropped them.

As more people begin casting their own projectiles, hopefully some of the older medium capacity, medium velocity, medium bore cartridges will become more mainstream. 35 Rem seems like a perfect cast boolit cartridge to me.

They still list the 35 Rem on their website but the same can be said for the 308 Marlin Express, 444 Marlin, and 450 Marlin. I think anything ending in Marlin is dead and I suspect that Remington would love to drop the 35 Rem so that they can drop ammo production.Maximumbob54 wrote:I think Marlin was the only one keeping that around and now Remlin (I think) has dropped them.
My experience is that bigger is better. 44 & 45 caliber long and short straight wall cartridges are about perfect. A good balance of max pressure against a velocity that most lead alloys can support. I've always found that anything starting with a 2 or 3 needs a bit of tuning to get right. 4 can roll right in. The greatest thing going against the 35 Remington and cast bullets is it's short case neck. It is very difficult to design a cast bullet with any weight and keep the bullet body within the confines of the neck.jdrslyr75 wrote:35 Rem seems like a perfect cast boolit cartridge to me.
A friend of mine at the old Marlin had told me that they where building less than 500 units a year of the 336 chambered in 35 Rem a year at the end. They could afford to do it but I doubt that the chambering's demand would appeal to Rossi. All this said, I personally like the cartridge.

Re: .35 Rem. RG?
RD, I know you are a cast bullet fella , but the 35 rem with the Hornady LE factory ammo or hand loads using the same are quite effective. Bit of a 35 Rem fan my self, just got a '51' 336 SC for Christmas from the wife and kids. That makes 4 Marlin 35's and a lil T/C Contender so chambered. Pretty effective for such a mild-mannered, old round. DP

Re: .35 Rem. RG?
I gave my Marlin 336C in 35 Rem to my nephew.
I used to load 158 grain 38 cal handgun SWCs in 35 Rem cases with a little Red Dot powder to take rabbits, grouse, etc for the stew pot in deer camp.
As I recall they were very accurate.
Probably could rebore a RG 30-30 Win to 35 Rem.
RD I believe made a 38-55 outta a RG 30-30.
