Just bought a scope....

Post by Nodnarb »

So I just had a really good deal come by me that I could not pass up. A buddy of mine had a BNIB Nikon Buckmaster 1x20 scope that he wanted to get rid of. 50$ later and it is sitting in my gun safe.

I am thinking of mounting it on my RG3030. What are your thoughts???

You may want to pass on putting it on your 30-30. I really don't think it is what you are looking for..... Now mounting it on my 45-70 may be a good idea.... All joking aside I would not think twice about it. Mount it up and see what you think. You can always take it off and purchase another rifle for it. :D

Haha. Thanks. I have rings on order. When I get them in I am going to mount the scope and see how I like it. I have never had a scope without magnification so it might be something to get used to.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I have a feeling you will love it!

That is what I am thinking as well. This is my only lever action rifle. I bought it for pig hunting down south and deer hunting on my farm up in the mountains. My shots up at the farm will be no further than 75 yards so I think 1x20 should work good enough. The pig hunting will be 50 yards and in so it will def work well for that.

Once you get it all rigged up make sure to share your findings in case someone else is thinking of doing the same.

I think it would better suited to a scout mount setup.

According to the specs, the eye relief is 4.3". Aren't scopes used for scout setups a lot more than that?

that is true I was thinking of my answer after 20 is a bit small objective for a qaulity scout scope. Sir you are correct depending on the type of qaulty scope though it could still serve that capacity if setup correctly.
